On Wednesday 28th April, 2021, designer hotel collection Ovolo hosted a line-up of VIPs for the official launch party of their brand-new South Yarra location. An ode to the hotel’s retro interior, the evening had a 70s theme, with guests dancing the night away to disco tunes and groovy vibes.
Upon arrival, guests were greeted with cocktails and canapés prepared by Lona Misa’s resident chef Shannon Martinez. Guests were then whisked into the vibrant hotel lobby where a duo of glittering roller-skaters grooved their way across the room to funky disco anthems.
An elevator ride to the second-floor transported guests to a scene out of Saturday Night Fever with a DJ spinning fresh tunes that echoed the halls, enticing guests to explore Ovolo South Yarra’s premium Rockstar suites, which housed a pop-up Grey Goose bar serving martinis and caviar, as well as a dazzling performance by a Cher impersonator.
The celebration continued in the basement which included a Chillout Zone offering guests vintage movies, popcorn and Green St Pressed Juices, a Games Zone housing retro pinball machines and a pool table. A secret location within the basement hosted the Studio 54 after-party with a DJ, saxophone artist and a light up-disco dance floor for guests to boogie the night away.
A star studded guestlist attended including VIP’s Olivia Molly Rogers, Sharon Johal, Candice Wyatt, Tully Smyth, Tess Shanahan, Diana Chan, Pettifleur Berenger, Effie Kats, Michael Klim and Jarryd Hughes.
