In the Season 4 Finale of The Press Office, Kate & Co. PR Founder and Managing Director, Kate Keane returns to the podcast.
Host Marisa Jayne chats to Kate about her favourite events and agency highlights over the last 12 months and Kate provides some fly on the wall insights into PR-life.

She takes Marisa through the details of the 2022 Penfolds ‘Venture Beyond’ event at Carriageworks, Sydney, back-to-back beauty events for epzen and Runway Room, Melbourne Fashion Week, Moomba Festival, the agency’s recent LA Showings and the launch of The LUME Melbourne Connection.
Kate shares some entertaining behind-the-scenes moments from these campaigns that provide an insight into what working in the PR world truly looks like, particularly when working on major events.
Kate explains that working in PR is certainly not as glamorous as pop culture makes out, it takes strategic thinking, hustle and grit - from 4am media calls for live breakfast crosses and pulling together pic ops at the 11th hour, to editing media alerts at midnight and late-night pizza dinners with the team after long days rolling out client activity.
Kate talks to the power of in person events and how it’s important to use these experiences to set your brand apart, “the media can’t write about everything, so you have to think about how to stand out and how to get that attention and how to have that platform to have the right conversations.”
It’s also about getting the right people in the room to create an impact, “getting the right media, talent and influencers, who is hot right now, they are the type of people we need to get there.”
Kate shares upcoming highlights for the agency, including the recent Spring Summer Showings in Sydney, mX Skincare event, Penfolds Venture Beyond for 2023, Melbourne Fashion Week coming up in October, Penfolds at Melbourne Cup Carnival, and the Caulfield Cup Carnival via our new client, Melbourne Racing Club.
“Spring is one of the busiest periods for PRs and the team is ready to get into all of these fabulous events,” she says.
